Africa Diaspora Youth Forum (ADYF) is the Premier Organization for Young Africans in Diaspora focusing on Engaging Young Africans in Diaspora to be actively involved in Africa ’s Development. ADYF works involves promoting the voice of Young Africans in Diaspora and Mobilizing Young Africans in Diaspora towards Rebuilding Africa. ADYF is keen on Empowering Young Africans in Africa and its Diaspora through its series of Leadership Training Program and Volunteer Supported Activities in Africa and it’s Diaspora. Our belief is that another Africa is Possible, A New Africa where its citizens would live in Love, Peace and Harmony and we strive to create this world by Engaging Young People in Development. ADYF seeks to recruit volunteers and interns to help with our series of Projects and Initiatives in 2007 and beyond which includes our Capacity Building and Mentoring Projects, Civil Society Leaders Empowerment Initiative and our Media Projects amongst others.
Important Information for all Advertised Vacant Positions:

Volunteer Event Coordinator:
Salary: Unpaid, though London Travel and Lunch expenses will be reimbursed.
Location: Partly Home-Based and at North London Temporary Office
Duration: Working for up to 18 hours per week for up to 4months, Negotiable.

ADYF is known for its monthly training and capacity building seminar and conferences focusing on Empowering Young People and Youth Leaders towards positive actions. We also offer series of management training for Civil Society Organization Leaders in the UK through the support of our partners.
You would be responsible for managing events which would includes booking venues, drawing up budget and implementing action plans, packaging conference packs, preparing conference materials, dealing with registration and following up with report writing. In addition, you would also be responsible for inviting Speakers and other administrative support.

Desirable Skills: Some office experience, computer literacy, Good Verbal and Written Communication Skills and Flexible Approach to work but able to cope with routine workload. Volunteer Media Project Coordinator: (Possibility of becoming a Paid Post Soon)
Salary: Unpaid, though London travel and lunch expenses will be reimbursed.
Location: Hounslow, Central London and able to work from Home.
Duration: Up to 18hours per week. Flexible and Negotiable. May be required to work in evenings or weekends.

We are currently recruiting for an Intern and Volunteer to manage our Youth Television Project on Dove Vision Television on the Sky Network which is broadcasting all over Europe and Africa .
The show is focused on different issues relating to Childhood, Adolescence Reproductive Health and Young People’s social, religious and academic development. The Talk show features Guest from all works of life who are both working with or for Young People and those who serves as role models to Young People all over the world.
The show addresses all areas that are relevant to promoting an Excellent Life in Young People and in addition to regular TV Interviews also cover and promote specific events which relate to our areas of interest. Such as Youth Summits, Meetings and Conferences.
You would be responsible for Scheduling Interviews with Prospective Guests, Studio Management and other Administrative responsibility to keep the show active and outstanding. You would also be working closely with the producer/presenter on the Management and Marketing of the Young People oriented TV Talkshow. Additional role includes drafting news releases, send and to follow up by fax/letter/email/phone, as appropriate, To assist with the upkeep of the media database and maintaining media files, electronically and on paper.
Desirable Skills: Some office experience, computer literacy (use of Internet and Search Engines), as well as good verbal and written communication skill. Prior experience would be a bonus though training would be given. Volunteer Communication and I.T Officer: (Possibility of Becoming a Paid Post soon)

Duration: Up to 16hours in a week for at least 3 months. Negotiable.

As a Volunteer Communication and IT Officer, you would be responsible for Managing ADYF Communication and IT services. This would involve updating ADYF websites weekly with News, Polls, Press Releases, Events and Project Report amongst others. You would also help in creating an ADYF Newsletter and manage the online subscription database. You would also help coordinate Media relationship with ADYF and Marketing of the Organization.
Desirable Skills: Some office experience, computer literacy (use of Internet software’s which includes FTP, Java, and others), as well as good verbal and written communication skill. Volunteer Administrative Officer: Possibility of becoming a paid post in the near future

You would be working directly with the Chief Executive Officer in implementing ADYF Business Plan, and in improving ADYF systems, policies, procedures, infrastructure, and structures so as to enable ADYF accomplish its mission and objectives.
You would be responsible for ADYF day to day administration and supervising of Volunteers and Interns. You would also be responsible for administrative documentation and developing/maintaining partnership with existing ADYF stakeholders. You would be acting as the organizations first point of contact in the office and through the internet.
You would be expected to maintain accurate and up to date records and filing system of all work undertaken, keep abreast of all developing legislation best policy and practice. In addition, you would be expected to maintain confidentiality of personal information on projects and users in addition to adhering to ADYF policy and procedures.
Essential Skills: Some office experience, computer literacy (use of MS word, Excel, Database, PDF, and outlook amongst others), organization, ability to self-manage, good verbal and written communication skill, perseverance, customer care, and interest in the work of ADYF. Volunteer Finance Officer:
Salary: Unpaid, though London Travel and Lunch will be reimbursed.
Location: Partly Home based and at our North London Temporary Office.
Duration: Up to 8hours in a week preferably in the space of 2 days for a minimum of 3month. Negotiable.

You would be responsible for balancing ADYF’s account. Checking and entering data from income returns/logging and filing returns. checking accuracy of invoices and processing them for payment. Problem solving and dealing with queries. Other responsibilities might include Collating and Analysis of Data, Downloading data from Banking systems, Preparation of Spreadsheets and letters, Assisting with VAT issues as required.
Essential Skills: Basic understanding of accounting, Some office experience, computer literacy (use of MS word, Excel, Database, PDF, and outlook amongst others), Good basic numeracy and attention to detail.
